Thousands of supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State staged a solidarity rally in Damaturu on Saturday to endorse President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, countering the opposition’s “Tinubu Must Go” slogan.
Organised by the Tinubu Must Go Again Movement in collaboration with the state APC leadership, the march was themed “Tinubu Must Go Again, Cika Alkawari.”
It moved from the Damaturu Flyover to the Pilgrim Commission Office Complex along Potiskum Road, with participants pledging grassroots support for Tinubu and the party’s governorship candidate, Alhaji Baba Malam Wali.
The rally drew youths, women and party loyalists along the Damaturu–Potiskum Road between 7:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
Participants carried posters of Tinubu, APC flags and placards praising the administration’s record.
Organisers described the demonstration as a response to the opposition’s “Tinubu Must Go” campaign, which has sought to portray the president as politically vulnerable ahead of next year’s general election.
Instead, APC supporters adopted the slogan “Tinubu Must Go Again,” signalling their demand for a second term.
Mohammad Musa Gulani, the APC’s youth leader in Yobe State, helped lead the procession alongside Professor Sherif Almuhajir, National Coordinator of the Tinubu Must Go Again Movement.
Senior state officials, including Secretary to the State Government Dr. Mohammed Goje, also took part, according to reports.
Supporters displayed materials backing Wali and Governor Mai Mala Buni, tying the presidential campaign to the APC’s broader electoral ambitions in Yobe State.
Security personnel maintained a visible presence as marchers moved through the state capital.
Organisers and local reports said the four-hour rally concluded without violence, property damage or other security incidents.
“We are here to show our support for the president, and we have done so peacefully,” Gulani said.
“This rally is a clear message that the people of Yobe stand with the APC and its leadership.”
For the APC, the Damaturu rally offered an early attempt to demonstrate grassroots strength and discipline as the party prepares for the 2027 election.
Organisers described the turnout as evidence of durable support in a state where the party is seeking to consolidate its position.
The event also underscored the intensifying political messaging ahead of the election: rather than merely defending the president, APC organisers sought to turn an opposition attack line into a rallying cry for his continued tenure.
