The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has inaugurated the All Progressives Congress (APC) infrastructure campaign team ahead of the 2027 general elections, saying its task is to showcase the federal infrastructure projects achievements of the current administration in the sector.
The team, he said, is part of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, where Umahi serves as Deputy Director-General for infrastructure, mobilization and sensitization.
Speaking at its first meeting in Abuja, Umahi said its main job is to identify, document and publicize projects carried out by federal ministries, departments and agencies.
He said the effort would cover all six geopolitical zones but not only projects under the Works Ministry.
The team will include the president’s senior special assistants on community engagement for each zone, who will also serve as zonal coordinators.
They will work with other office members to compile a national record of infrastructure spending and communicate the administration’s development record to voters, he disclosed.
The Minister said better documentation would make information about federal investments more accessible to Nigerians.
He described infrastructure as a driver of economic activity, community connections and job creation.
He also highlighted the government’s use of continuously reinforced concrete pavement in road construction, while adding that the method could reduce reliance on imported bitumen, conserve foreign exchange and support local materials and expertise.
The move signals that the APC plans to make President Bola Tinubu’s infrastructure record a central theme of its 2027 campaign.
Umahi was appointed to the campaign council role in August as part of the party’s broader election machinery.
