As campaigns for the January 2027 presidential election gather momentum, former Niger Delta agitator and businessman High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo has thrown his weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid with a rally in Taraba State, donating 25 vehicles to boost mobilization and grassroots campaign for the President across the state.
Tompolo, who is the grand patron of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, said Tinubu’s economic and political reforms needed more time to take effect.
Tompolo, who was represented at the event in Jalingo by High Chief Kestin Pondi, said Taraba was benefiting from the administration’s policies and that continuity was essential to preserve those gains.
“Taraba is thriving because President Tinubu has good reformation policies that are moving the state forward,” Tompolo said.
“If we want those policies to continue and become more solid, we need to give the president another four years.”
He said a second term would help ensure that civil servants continued to receive their salaries on time and give Taraba Governor Agbu Kefas more time to pursue his development agenda.
He also pointed to a reduction in some of the difficulties Nigerians had previously faced, including fuel queues and disruptions to university education.
He acknowledged that reforms often impose short-term costs but said they required time to deliver their full benefits.
“Every policy needs time to consolidate; every policy needs time to show dividends,” he added.
“Every policy reformation will always come with its own challenges, but once we bear a little and they pass, we will go to the smooth road we are to ride on.”
He urged supporters to extend the campaign beyond political gatherings to homes, religious centres, wards, local government areas and polling units.
Speaking at the event, Kefas said residents could see the impact of the federal government’s policies through projects being implemented across the state.
“Taraba is ready. You don’t need to tell the people of Taraba State what the President is doing; they are seeing what the President is doing through me,” he said.
Kefas said his administration remained committed to Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and would continue working with the Federal Government on development projects.
“We are moving forward with the mandate of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President,” he said, adding that the state would continue to flag off and commission projects across its wards and local government areas.
The Governor also pledged broad support for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
“We are going to turn out en masse and give the President 100 percent votes,” Kefas said.
“We are ready for Mr. President”, he stated.
Earlier, Sunday Asuku, the movement’s National Coordinator, said the group had come to Taraba to strengthen support for both Tinubu and the Governor.
Asuku argued that abandoning the administration’s reform programme would be counterproductive and urged Nigerians to remain aligned with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“The surest way for us today is the APC. We are on the right trajectory and that is why we should remain where we are,” he said.
He praised Kefas for what he described as achievements during the Governor’s first three years in office, saying the turnout at the event demonstrated strong grassroots backing.
The event ended with the presentation of 25 campaign vehicles, generators and electronic speakers to support the movement’s mobilisation efforts across Taraba State.
