President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, has challenged Benue State Governor Hyacinth’s media team to effectively assist in projecting the developmental strides of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration.
Onanuga stated this when he visited Makurdi, the Benue State capital in a strategic interactive session with Governor Alia’s media team.
The Tinubu government claims several significant achievements since taking office in May 2023, including the removal of fuel subsidies, unification of foreign exchange systems, doubling of aggregate government revenues by over ₦9.1 trillion in the first half of 2024, and increase in oil production to 1.7 million barrels per day as well the signing of over $500 million in Foreign Direct Investments, among many other interventions.
Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Tersoo Kula, in a statement said Spokesman Onanuga was taken through a detailed presentation of Alia’s projects and achievements, designed to improve the lives of millions of Benue people.
“The presentation highlighted the Governor’s interventions across key sectors, including road construction and rehabilitation, agriculture, healthcare, security, education, ICT, industrialization, the humanitarian sector, and human capital development, etc,” the statement said.
The presidential aide praised the achievements of Governor Alia’s administration, particularly in sectors like roads, healthcare, education, agriculture, ICT, industrialisation, and human capital development.
Onanuga said the Governor’s works reflect a focused and deliberate approach to governance.
While expressing surprise at the level of progress achieved within just two years in office, Onanuga noted that the accomplishments were clear evidence that Governor Alia has been prudently utilizing revenues accruing to the state much of which comes from the positive outcomes of President Tinubu’s reforms.
He said that the Governor’s performance demonstrated a clear understanding of the fundamental needs of the people and a commitment to addressing them.
According to Onanuga, President Tinubu is pleased with the APC Governors who are delivering good governance.
He explained that there was a need for strong synergy among media teams of APC-controlled states to ensure that Nigerians are adequately informed of the administration’s efforts and achievements.
