Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike, has predicted that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), would stun the nation in the 2027 general elections by showcasing its enduring strength.

Speaking after inspecting the Moshood Abiola National Stadium velodrome in Abuja — the venue for the party’s national convention scheduled for March 29 and 30 — Minister Wike dismissed a Supreme Court appeal by a faction led by Tanimu Turaki, saying it would not derail the gathering.

He insisted that the national convention  would proceed as planned, with reconciliation efforts among aggrieved members to follow.

“There is room for accommodation,” Minister Wike said.

“The PDP is a very large party. Look at the umbrella — it is wide enough to accommodate everyone.”

Joined by prominent party figures including Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, chairman of the National Convention Planning Committee; Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, chairman of the Board of Trustees; and Mohammed Abdulrahman, head of the National Caretaker Working Committee, Minister Wike described reconciliation as an ongoing process in a party of millions.

“In any group, there will be grievances,” he added. “What is most important is the overall interest of the party.”

The FCT Minister also confirmed that the party had finalized its zoning formula for key positions, allotting the presidential slot to the south and the chairmanship to the north.

He portrayed the arrangement as a rare show of unity, free of factions or divisive “unity lists” from past conventions.

“For the first time, the PDP is presenting a unified front. “Everyone has agreed on the direction we are taking,” he said.
