More than ten persons are feared dead as a heavy loaded truck on Thursday failed its break crushing about five vehicles with occupants.

An eye witness told NewsQuest that the trailer lorded with items suspected to be bags of flour driving on the Nyanya-Keffi road before the pedestrian bridge  suddenly had its trunk collapsed, over-running vehicles and killing several passengers.

“I have seen why people should respect their mothers today. A woman inside one of the crushed vehicles died holding her two babies, she did not release any of them as officials of the Road Safety Corps butchered the car to get the bodies,” he cried telling the story of the urging scene.

Some of the damaged vehicles were destroyed beyond further description.

Hundreds of Abuja residents gathered at the scene and assisted rescue officials to covey dead bodies and people with a hope to survive the disaster.

The loaded trailer it was said at about 8:12pm began to blow its hone desperately alerting commuters of its distress condition but unfortunately, many people did not understand the reason for the alarm, leading to its collapse on some moving vehicles.

Security and rescue officers have since evacuated many people including dead bodies to nearby hospitals for medical attention.

As at the time of this report, official were seen trying to complete the evacuation process.
