Newly sworn in minister of Information and National Orientation, Muhammad Idris on Monday said his ministry will not engage in propaganda to defend the government but will always say it as it is.
The minister said the ministry and the government will be transparent and truthful while giving out information.
According to him, the government would own up when it falters or make any mistake and try to adjust where necessary.
Idris said National orientation would be a core aspect of the government, hence “in a matter of days we would roll out our plans to Nigerians.”
The minister therefore called on Nigerians to shun fake news and always clarify issues before taking it out to the public as reiterated his determination to make the ministry accountable and open to nigerians.
Idris is a media entrepreneur, Publisher, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Blueprint newspaper. He is a Fellow of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), philanthropist, political leader and public relations expert. The 57-year-old native of Niger State holds a Master’s Degree in English from Bayero University, Kano State.
