NDLEA intercepts $20miilion fake notes in Abuja

The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Sunday announced that it intercepted counterfeit notes of dollars worth 20million in a stop and search operation in Abuja. 

NDLEA in a statement by its spokesman, Femi Babafemi said it’s operatives on Friday 18th August intercepted the fake currencies from a bus traveling from Lagos to Abuja, and arrested a 53-year-old driver of the the vehicle, Onyebuchi Nlededin.

The agency said the previous day, Thursday 17th August, Jude Ndubuisi, 52, was arrested with 2.2 kilograms of methamphetamine during a raid operation at Kabusa village in Abuja. 

According to the NDLEA, the suspect was initially arrested with 20.75kg cannabis on 7th July 2022 and was on court bail following his ongoing prosecution when he was nabbed for yet another drug crime.

In another raid of two notorious drug joints within Abuja, specifically in Dei Dei and Tora-Bora Hills, the agency said it recovered 82.8kg skunk, 1.8kg rohypnol and 1.2kg diazepam on Wednesday 16th August.
