The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike on Thursday secured the approval of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) ratifying approval for the design and construction of residences of heads of courts, including the president of the Court of Appeal, the president of the Industrial Court, the chief judge of the Federal High Court, and the chief judge of the FCT.
“Of course, this has been flagged off and construction is ongoing for the residences of the heads of court,” Minister Wike told State House Correspondents.
He noted that “Again, the Federal Executive Council approved the provision of water to the satellite towns of Karu, Karshi area, Orozo, and Bwari. The last time, Mr. President inaugurated the provision of one of the greatest Abuja water supply systems, and made a promise that this would be extended to the satellite towns.
“You also know that we have flagged off that project by the grace of God, we believe, by May next year, that would have been inaugurated too.
“Thirdly, was the ratification for the rehabilitation job we did for the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Center. You are aware that the project was awarded under emergency when Mr. President went to inaugurate the last ECOWAS parliament and directed that the International Conference Center should be given the international standard it requires.
“To the glory of God. Mr. President has also inaugurated that rehabilitation,” the FCT Minister said.
According to Minister Wike, one of the most important approvals by the FEC was the contract for engineering infrastructure in Maitama II.
“This contract was awarded about five years ago, but did not take off. So when Mr. President came, the Federal Executive Council terminated that contract. So many people have been angling for that to be done.
“Maitama II of course, will be a new district that covers not less than 786, hectares of land. Many people have been allocated that land before this administration, but no provision of infrastructure. So, the Federal Executive Council today approved that contract, and by the grace of God, this is one very ambitious project that the FCT is embarking upon.
“We believe, by the grace of God, we are going to give it all it requires to see that that district is opened,” Minister Wike added.
NewsQuest reports that the delivery of projects under Minister Wike’s administration in Abuja includes a significant focus on roads, infrastructure, and utilities with both completed and ongoing projects that have since earnered him the title, ‘Mr. Infrastructure’.
