Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has appointed Dr. Grace Adagba as chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) to assist his administration advance major development interventions in the education sector.
Dr. Adagba who before her appointment was a lecturer in the Physics department at the Benue State University, Makurdi, will be assisted by other members of the board to include, Paul Ebe (member), Prince Andy Uwouku (member), Okpeh Mathias Ugwoke (member), and Dr. Joseph Jande (secretary).
The governor in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Tersoo Kula also announced other key appointments which include, Professor Gabriel Akpen who will serve as the Director General, Bureau of Special Projects & Infrastructure.

Mrs. Pat. Goja has been appointed as the Manager, Novus Microfinance Bank while Engineer Terese Ninga is the Director General, Bureau of Agricultural Development & Mechanization (BNARDA & BENTHA), and Dr. Terna Francis who is the Director General, Education Quality Assurance Agency
Governor Alia also announced the constitution of the Christian and Muslim Pilgrims Board in the State.
Reverend Fr. Michael Melladu, FJS – will serve as the Chairman of the Christian Pilgrims Board with Mr. Shadrack Toryila Asombo (member), Mr. George Welgba (member), Ene Eiyemonye (member), Pastor Jethro Moor (member), and Mr. James Gbamwuan as (secretary).
Alh. Abdullahi Sani Danjuma has been appointed as chairman of the Muslim Pilgrims Board with Alh. Hamza Yahaya, Imam Muhammad Abdulmalik, Alh. Muhammad Sanusi Adamu as members, while Alhasan Ahmadu will serve as secretary of the board.
According to the statement, Governor Alia also approved key appointments in the office of the deputy governor.
The appointments include, Sonni Adapoyi, PSA to the Governor on Administration in the office, Ms Duniya Agbo – PSA to the Governor on Protocol, Mrs. Onyowoicho T Onumajuru – PSA to the Governor on Monitoring and Evaluation, Mr. Adeyi Ode – PSA to the Governor on Statistics and Data Analysis, and Mr. Eric Ameh – SSA on Administration.
Other new appointees are Owoicho Obla – P A to Deputy Governor, Godwin Obaje – SSA to the Governor on Finance and Logistics, Emmanuel Ochiogbo – SA on Transport, Linus Ejilogo – SSA Community Relations, Joy Ameh – SSA to the Wife of the Deputy Governor on Administration, Nora Odeh – SA to Deputy Governor’s Wife, and Jane Okwori – PA to Deputy Governor’s Wife.
Governor Alia according to the CPS said he believes that the appointed persons who are carefully selected based on their past records of service and worth of experience will be able to deliver in the key agencies assigned.
The governor therefore charges the new appointees to permanently put the state first in all their official engagements.
