FG lauds Benue SUBEB debate award winning team

The Federal Government has expressed deep satisfaction with the performance of the Benue State Universal Edecuation Board (SUBEB) debate team at international debate competitions in Indonesia and Singapore, calling for the young students to serve as critical thinkers for National development.  

Minister of State for Educatikn Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu noted this when he received the award winning debaters from three states of Kwara, Benue and Katsina in Abuja. 

A statement by the Information Officer of Benue SUBEB Emmanuella Akese said  Dr. Sununu who also praised the academic brilliance of the debaters emphasized the importance of critical thinking for National development and charged them to serve as critical thinkers for the Country.

“What you did today,is to demonstrate to Nigerians that, the 8-point agenda of Mr President for making education to be qualitative is really achievable,” he added.

The Miniater appreciated the efforts of the office of The President’s Schools Debate Nigeria (PSDN) in coordinating debates and assured of the support of the Ministry in addressing challenges in the education sector.

Chairman of PSDN , Mohammed Usman while speaking at the event, lauded the teams for their outstanding performance saying, the presentation was to serve as a morale booster for the Debaters and others.

Speaking at the sidelines of the event, the Executive Chairman Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Dr. Grace Adagba attributed the successes recorded by the Benue debaters to the goodwill and support of Governor Hyacinth Alia to basic education in the state.

Dr. Adagba noted that with such support  Benue children will continue to receive high quality teaching and learning that would enable them compete favourably with their counterparts anywhere in the world.

Highpoint at the event was presentation of certificates and medals to the Debaters namely; Sonia Aduba, Ogenyi Favour, Samuel Uchara, Ruth Suurshater and their Coaches by the Minister.
