The Federal Government has commended Governor Hyacinth Alia for the support and cooperation of his administration that led to the successful launching of the Expanded National Micro Small And Medium Scale (MSME) clinics in Makurdi, the State capital, by Vice President Kashim Shettima.

Senior special assistant to the president on job creation and MSMEs, office of the vice-president, Temitola Adekunle-Johnson stated this during tbe launch of the programme in Makurdi.

“Your excellency, Governor Alia, once it was approved that Benue was going to host this clinics, we had no single challenge from the State and the organizers.  The cooperation between the federal government agencies and the State was seamless,” he said.

Temitola noted further that majority of the MSMEs in Benue were extremely smart with most of them having up to date data of their projects and the programme.

The presidential aide explained that Benue was lucky to host the first launch of the scheme, which has been very competitive among the 35 States for the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

“We have had the National MSME clinics for close to seven years. The initial expanded clinics, there was a real struggle for which State would host this first edition because, it comes with a lot of added incentives.

According to Temitola, the Benue MSME clinics came in their numbers and interfaced with federal government agencies regulating the affairs of MSMEs across the country, before the programme was launched by Vice  President Shettima.

“They are SMEDAN, CAC, BOI, SON, and NEPC. All the agencies regulating the affairs of MSMEs within the country were here to interface with MSMEs in Benue.

“We want to thank the Governor, (Alia), because, once it was approved that Benue was going to host this clinic, we had no single challenge from the State and the organizers.

“The cooperation with federal government agencies was seamless. We worked as a team to achieve all that you have seen today. Thank you very much, the good people of Benue,” Temitola said.

A major high point of the launching was the announcement by Vice President Shettima that the Federal Government will within 90 days establish a fashion hub to support the tailoring industry. In the State.
