The Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors for the President in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Hon. Abdullahi Candido, has said that President Bola Tinubu’s administration has brought governance closer to residents of the FCT through its people-oriented projects and reforms.
He said the Tinubu administration had brought “democratic dividends” closer to indigenous communities and other residents than previous governments.
He spoke on Saturday at an FCT Stakeholders Assembly and Rainbow Coalition meeting at the Old Parade Ground in Abuja.
“Your coming to Abuja remains a blessing to the good people of the Federal Capital Territory,” Candido said, addressing FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
“Some of us have seen successive administrations in Abuja, but we have never seen an administration that provided democratic dividends and brought government so close to the people,” he added.
The meeting brought together traditional rulers, political leaders, area council chairmen, indigenous communities, and residents.
Attendees endorsed Tinubu for re-election, along with Senator Philip Aduda for the FCT senatorial seat, John Gabaya for the Abuja North Federal Constituency, and former Kwali Area Council Chairman Danladi Chiya for the Abuja South Federal Constituency.
Candido said indigenous groups, including the Gbagyi, Gana-Gana, Bwari, Koro, Gade, and Bassa, were beginning to feel greater representation in government.
He urged residents not to take the administration’s interventions for granted.
“We have never had it so good,” he said, adding, “This administration has done everything for us.”
Candido also warned that some politicians claiming support for the president were insincere.
He urged Wike and other stakeholders to distinguish genuine allies from “pretenders.”
“Some politicians can be very dishonest. What they say is not exactly what is in them,” he said.
He described Sen. Aduda as the best senator the territory has produced, saying his record set him apart from those of previous representatives.
“Senator Aduda will go into history as the best senator ever produced in the Federal Capital Territory,” Candido said.
Candido, a former chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), called for broader representation within the FCT administration, including the territory’s nine traditional chiefdoms and residents from different ethnic backgrounds.
He cited his own tenure at the area council, saying he promoted ethnic balance by appointing officials from Igbo, Hausa, and Yoruba communities.
“I believe in inclusivity,” he said.
“I made sure that among the cabinet, we had representation from every shade of opinion and background,” he added.
Candido expressed confidence that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) would win the 2027 election.
“By the grace of God, APC is going to win this election 100 per cent, and we are not going to regret it,” he said.
