A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) in Benue State, Senator Jack Tilley-Gyado has expressed confidence in the leadership qualities and performance of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) George Akume in his current role at the central government .

Senator Gyado passed a vote of confidence on the SGF Akume, saying that as the nation’s scribe, he is doing creditably well.
Speaking at a political event in Makurdi, Senator Gyado said the performance of the SGF has formed a bond for the north-central states of the party giving more assurance that the region’s outing in the last general election will be repeated in 2027 when President Bola Tinubu presents him for a second term re-election.
Jack Gyado, a Second Republic Senator condemned calls in some quarters for Akume’s removal as SGF stressing that the latter’s performance is satisfactory.
“Akume is a square peg in a square hole. We are satisfied with his performance as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. As the leader of the APC in North Central as a whole, we are re-affirming our support to him politically and.otherwise” he said
Gyado assured that the unity in the party especially in north central is an indication that the zone and Benue in particular, will still deliver President Tinubu 2027
He also condemned factionalization of APC in Benue state saying that the party remains indivisible under Akume and the state chairman, Austin Agada.
According to him, this indivisibility is manifest in the unity amongst federal appointees, both serving and former members of the national and State Assembly.
The elder statesman explained that the unity in the APC is driving politicians from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other parties to join the APC.
Meanwhile, a 2027 governorship hopeful of the APC in Benue state Godwin Ityoachimin has also corroborated the Senator Gyado’s position:

Ityoachimin said that the call for Akume’s removal remains an unnecessary distraction. He explained that there no gain doubting that the current SGG is the leader of the party in the entire north central.
The former governorship aspirant in the 2023 general election nderscored the need for more support for the SGF to succeed in his national assignment assuring that the party remains resolute to repeat the feat of 2023 in 2027.
He commended President Tinubu for showing an exemplary leadership style administratively and politically emphasizing that the state’s continued support for the President cannot be compromised.
