The Governor of Benue State Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia on Wednesday expressed the readiness of his government to host the 12th edition of the National Council on Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy (NCCIDE) in Makurdi, the State’s capital.
Governor Alia has taken a number of steps including engagement with international partners to attract huge investments in the digital economy sector in a deliberate move to reposition the ‘Food Basket’ of the nation as a major Information Communication Technology (ICT) hub.
The Governor in October this year signed an agreement with China’s technology giant Huawei targeting to transform Benue State into a modern digital hub capable of boosting the economy.
Governor Alia on Wednesday wrote on his Facebook page; “Yesterday, I had the honour of hosting the assessment team from the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, led by the Permanent Secretary, Engr. Faruk Yusuf Yabo, in Government House, Makurdi.”
He said that the visit was part of preparations for Benue State to host the 12th NCCIDE scheduled to take place in Makurdi from December 2nd to 6th, 2024.
