The Governor of Benue State Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia on Wednesday expressed the readiness of his government to host the 12th edition of the National Council on Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy (NCCIDE) in Makurdi, the State’s capital.

Governor Alia has taken a number of steps including engagement with international partners to attract huge investments in the digital economy sector in a deliberate move to reposition the ‘Food Basket’ of the nation as a major Information Communication Technology (ICT) hub.

The Governor in October this year signed an agreement with China’s technology giant Huawei targeting to transform Benue State into a modern digital hub capable of boosting the economy.

Governor Alia on Wednesday wrote on his Facebook page; “Yesterday, I had the honour of hosting the assessment team from the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, led by the Permanent Secretary, Engr. Faruk Yusuf Yabo, in Government House, Makurdi.”

He said that the visit was part of preparations for Benue State to host the 12th NCCIDE scheduled to take place in Makurdi from December 2nd to 6th, 2024.

According to him, the event will not only showcase Benue State as a hub for innovation and digital transformation but will also position us as a key player in driving Nigeria’s tech-driven economy.

“As a government, we are fully committed to leveraging this historic opportunity to attract investments, foster digital skills, and create an enabling environment for innovation and economic growth in our beloved state,” Governor Alia added.
