The Nigerian Army has assured students and staff of Federal Government College (FGC), Ohafia, Abia State, of their safety and adequate security, following concerns over security threats in and around the school community.
Commander of the 14 Brigade in Ohafi Brigadier General Ahmad Mansur Dikko gave the assurance Friday at the brigade headquarters following a courtesy visit by the school’s new principal and management team.
He said the brigade would provide security within the school and its surrounding area, pledging stronger security protection for Federal Government College, Ohafia, and nearby communities.
Dikko advised Ayodele to maintain direct contact with Lieutenant Colonel J.S Wudah, Commander of the 14 Brigade Garrison, who oversees security in the local government area.
He also urged her to formally report any accommodation difficulties facing teachers at the college.
Ayodele said the visit was intended to familiarize the new school leadership with the brigade and establish a working relationship with the military formation.
She also raised concern over the college’s collapsed perimeter wall, an infrastructure issue with direct implications for campus security.
The engagement reflects a broader effort by the 14 Brigade to deepen coordination with local institutions.
Its commander has recently emphasized timely communication and interagency cooperation in engagements with other government bodies in Abia State.
