Minister of Solid Minerals Development Dr. Dele Alake, has pledged to reinforce public communication of government policies after receiving a fellowship from the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria.

The honour, bestowed in a ceremony at his Abuja office, recognized Alake’s role in strategic communications, ethical public engagement and efforts to advance the country’s mining reforms.

In remarks after the presentation, the Minister said the award validated “the critical role of effective communication in governance” and promised to make information on policies and programmes more accessible to Nigerians.

“The recognition will reinforce my commitment to openness, accountability and sustained engagement with citizens, investors, host communities and other stakeholders,” Alake said, tying improved outreach to the administration’s Renewed Hope agenda for the solid-minerals sector.

He said the Ministry  would intensify efforts to explain reforms intended to curb illegal mining, encourage beneficiation and attract responsible investment.

Dr. Olalekan Fadolapo, ARCON’s Director-General, described the fellowship as an acknowledgement of Alake’s use of purposeful public engagement to help reposition the sector as a driver of economic diversification.

“Through transparent communication and sustained stakeholder engagement, the ministry has deepened investor confidence, built public trust and amplified awareness of key policy initiatives,” Dr. Fadolapo said.

ARCON also cited Alake’s long career in journalism and strategic communications before joining government, saying it underscored his commitment to professionalism and nation-building.
