Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has rewarded Super Falcons forward Francisca Ordega with a house in recognition of her outstanding contributions to women’s football and for making the state proud on the national and international stage.
Alia has made good on his pledge, formalizing a reward package announced after the nation’s victory at the 2024/2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
At a presentation ceremony in Makurdi, the state capital, Alia—represented by Dr. Raymond Asemakaha, Group Managing Director of Benue Investment and Property Company (BIPC)—handed over Unit 10 at Fountain Estate to the international footballer.
The governor praised Ordega’s resilience and achievements and urged young people in Benue to pursue their talents with similar determination.
The home is part of a broader package the governor announced after the tournament, which included a ₦50 million cash award and a commitment to name a street after Ordega.
She said the cash prize and house have now been delivered, while the street naming is expected next year.
Alia reiterated that his administration would honor its commitments to the athlete and continue supporting young people pursuing professional careers.
Ordega thanked the governor, describing the gesture as an encouragement to her and other aspiring athletes.
She urged Benue youths to remain focused, resilient, and committed to their goals.
Theresa Abeda, Head of Business Development and Strategy at BIPC, said the recognition should inspire young people in the state to pursue excellence.
