Simultaneous road walk demonstrations are underway across multiple states as part of activities for the World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) 2026, a week-long global event scheduled for November 15–21 in Abuja.
The coordinated road walks, led by Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) President Dr. Ike Neliaku, are taking place in state capitals including Lafia Nasarawa State and Abuja in the Federal Capital Territory.
Thousands of public relations professionals are participating in the demonstrations, which aim to raise awareness ahead of the forum’s opening when international delegates begin arriving from 126 countries.
The WPRF 2026, themed “Responsible Communication: The Voice of the World,” will convene approximately 3,000 delegates at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja.
President Bola Tinubu will serve as Chief Host, while Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema is scheduled to deliver the Presidential Keynote Address.
The forum represents the 13th edition of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management’s flagship event, coinciding with the organisation’s 25th anniversary.
High-profile speakers confirmed include UN Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications Melissa Fleming and INTERPOL Director of Communications Samuel Heath.
Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris has described the forum as a pivotal opportunity for Nigeria to engage the global communications community and showcase the country’s growing influence in public relations.
The event will run concurrently with the 37th African Public Relations Association Conference (APRAC), amplifying its continental reach.
Delegates are expected to sign “The Abuja Declaration,” an accord focused on advancing responsible communication standards globally.
The forum’s programme includes keynote addresses, panel discussions, cultural showcases, and youth engagement initiatives designed to shape the future of strategic communication worldwide.
