Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has likened President Bola Tinubu to Singapore’s founding leader Lee Kuan Yew, praising his sweeping economic reforms and predicting the President’s Tinubu second term in 2027 general election.

Speaking at a state dinner at the Government House in Owerri, Governor Uzodimma said President Tinubu, who took office on May 29, 2023, arrived ready to confront Nigeria’s economic problems and moved quickly to implement reforms.

“The old order is gone and there is now a new order. President Tinubu knew exactly what he came to do,” the Imo Governor said.

According to a statement by Tunde Rahman Director Media and Publicity of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors Uzodimma, while hosting the conclusion of a three-day inspection of federal and state projects by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors and the Presidential Communications Team, acknowledged that reforms had brought short-term hardship but argued they were already yielding gains.

Governor Uzodimma compared the country’s pre-reform economy to the biblical bondage of the Israelites, saying bold decisions were needed to break years of stagnation.

“The reforms have created the enabling environment for development,” he said, crediting the Renewed Hope Agenda with unlocking revenues that states can now deploy for infrastructure and human-capital projects.

The Imo Governor pointed to projects across Imo—roads, health facilities, technology and education—as evidence of the agenda’s impact.

Veteran journalist Dr. Soni Daniel, speaking for the visiting press contingent, praised Governor Uzodimma’s record, saying the tour offered “firsthand evidence” of infrastructure renewal and prudent use of public funds that has positioned Imo among Nigeria’s leading states for economic transformation.

Also at the event, Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication said the tour is an indication of Federal-State cooperation under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He listed projects inspected during the visit—including the Imo Digital City, a 2,000‑bed infectious disease centre, a heart‑transplant centre in Orlu, the University of Innovation, Science and Technology at Omuma, and expansion of the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Convention Centre—as examples of reform-driven investment.

The media tour, organized by Renewed Hope Ambassadors with the Presidential Communications Team, included more than 40 senior editors and journalists.
