President Bola Tinubu on Monday administered the oaths of office to Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as Minister of Power and Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Forign Agfairs, in a ceremony at the Presidential Villa attended by senior officials and the Ministers’ spouses.

The appointments follow the resignations of Yusuf Tuggar, the former Foreign Minister, and Chief Adebayo Adelabu, the former Minister of power, both of whom stepped down to pursue political ambitions.

President Tinubu nominated the two men after the Senate confirmed them on May 6.

Mr. Tegbe, a native of Ibadan, Oyo State, brings more than three decades of experience in fiscal, economic and institutional reform across public and private sectors, according to his biography.

He holds a first-class degree in civil engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University and master’s degrees in business administration (Switzerland) and public administration (Birmingham).

Tegbe previously served as senior partner and head of advisory services at KPMG Africa, where he led transformational programs and advised on presidential and subnational reform strategies.

His consultancy portfolio includes engagements with the Nigerian Communications Commission, Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, Nigeria Customs Service, Shell, Huawei, General Electric, MTN and the Odu’a Group.

Ambassador Enikanolaiye, from Igbagun in Kogi State, is a career diplomat who joined the foreign service in 1982 and rose to director before serving as permanent secretary of the ministry in 2016.

He retired from the civil service in August 2017 after 35 years, then later served as senior special assistant to President Tinubu on foreign affairs and international relations in the Office of the Chief of Staff.

Enikanolaiye holds a first-class degree in political science from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a distinction-awarded master’s in international law and diplomacy from the University of Lagos.

His overseas postings have included Addis Ababa, Belgrade, Ottawa, London and a final foreign posting as head of mission in New Delhi.

He has received multiple service awards, including the Presidential Civil Service Merit Award and the Presidential Distinguished Public Service Career Award.

The new appointments come as the administration seeks to steady key ministries amid political turnover and ongoing reform agendas in energy and foreign policy.
