The British government has detailed the programme for a state visit by President Bola Tinubu, set for March 17 to 19 at Windsor Castle.

The itinerary, released this week, features bilateral meetings, ceremonial events and outreach to Britain’s Nigerian diaspora community.

Preparations begin March 17 with security sweeps, road closures and procession rehearsals.

NewsQuest reports that President Tinubu arrives officially on March 18, greeted by Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales.

A formal welcome on Datchet Road will include national anthems and a guard of honor inspection.

The Nigerian President will then travel by carriage procession to Windsor Castle for a reception by King Charles III and Queen.

Tinubu’s visit marks the first such visit by a Nigerian leader in 37 years.

The President will be accompanied by his wife, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu for the two-day event, following an official invitation from Buckingham Palace.

Our correspondent gathered that the announcement was made in early February 2026 via the Royal Family’s communications.
