Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement in the North Central region, Dr. Abiodun Essiet has launched a three-day dialogue in Benue State to strengthen discussions on security, border management, and community ties.

The initiative seeks to foster deeper collaboration between federal agencies and local groups, including the Citizens’ Assembly, with a focus on sustaining outcomes beyond the visit.

Governor Hyacinth Alia and Dr. Essiet during the visit outlined the engagement’s goals and relayed community feedback on local disputes and peacebuilding.

Governor Alia explained how dilapidated federal roads hinder security responses by delaying agencies’ access to remote areas.

He pledged state support, directing his departments for peace and reconciliation, and community engagement, to align with Dr. Essiet’s team.

Benue State Deputy Governor Samuel Ode had received Ms. Essiet and detailed the state’s efforts against security threats and border issues.

He emphasized joint work with neighboring Taraba and Nasarawa States on cross-border security, land disputes, and community matters, reaffirming Benue’s commitment to resolving boundary conflicts for residents.
