Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State on Monday declared an all-out campaign against armed banditry, pledging to hunt down perpetrators and restore peace as security forces reinforced positions in troubled communities.

Speaking after a briefing on the deployment to Kwande and other local government areas, Governor Alia commended security agencies for their efforts to calm violence-plagued regions.

“This is only the beginning of a decisive clampdown on insecurity,” he said.

“My administration will not rest until absolute peace is achieved.”

Governor Alia, who took office amid rising farmer-herder clashes and bandit attacks, emphasized protecting residents, their farms, and communities.

“Bandits and all those who seek to disrupt the peace of the state will be hunted down and brought to justice,” he added.

“Let this be a warning: Governor Alia will not be intimidated. I will not be deterred. I will crush insecurity in Benue State.”

The Governor assured residents that his government was leaving “no stone unturned” in the fight.
