The Federal Government announced Wednesday it is poised to launch its National Single Window (NSW) platform on March 27, a pivotal reform aimed at overhauling the country’s cumbersome trade processes.

Chief of Staff to the President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, has hailed the initiative as “monumental” during a high-level stakeholders’ meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Attendees included Ministers, agency heads and top officials from bodies such as the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS).

The platform, first announced by President Tinubu nearly two years ago, promises to replace a patchwork of multiple windows with a unified digital system.

NewsQuest reports that it will streamline import permits, enable electronic cargo manifests and introduce centralised risk management, cutting duplication and human intervention.

“We are about to launch yet another . . . transformational fiscal reform,” Gbajabiamila said, urging agencies to ensure a smooth transition.

NSW Coordinator Tola Fakolade outlined the first phase, with nationwide training under way and pilot tests imminent.

“Documents will be submitted once and shared with all relevant agencies without duplication,” he told the meeting.

Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Wale Edun, pledged the Finance Ministry’s  full backing, describing the project as “growth-enhancing”.

The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Jumoke Oduwole, on her part, called it a cornerstone of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and vowed to rally traders, importers and exporters in the final three weeks.

In his remarks, CBN Governor Olayemi Cardoso committed to closing Nigeria’s trade facilitation gap with peers, while NRS Executive Chairman Zacch Adedeji and NCS Comptroller-General Bashir Adeniyi stressed coordination and stakeholder engagement.

Oduwole was tasked with leading the 23-day countdown to launch. Participating agencies included the Standards Organisation of Nigeria, Nigerian Ports Authority, NAFDAC and others.

The NSW is a centralized digital platform designed to streamline import and export processes by integrating government agencies, reducing bureaucratic delays, and enhancing trade efficiency.
