President Bola Tinubu has renewed the appointment of Professor Ayo Omotayo as Director-General of Nigeria’s National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPPS) in Kuru for a final four-year term.

Special Adviser on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga to the Presisent in a statement Wednesday said Omotayo, a Professor of environmental sustainability, was first appointed to the role by former president Muhammadu Buhari in November 2021, with Senate confirmation following in February 2022.

A University of Ibadan graduate with a PhD in geography (1980-90), Omotayo began teaching at Lagos State University in 1985.

He became a senior lecturer there in 1992 at the age of 30, later serving as dean of the faculty of social sciences (2012-17) and director of the Centre for Planning until his Nipss appointment.
