The Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Dr. Zacch Adedeji, has praised the Nigerian Military for enhancing security in the Niger Delta, highlighting their role as a major factor behind the rise in oil production, company profits, and tax revenues for the country.

Dr. Adedeji stated this when he received the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa on a courtesy visit to the FIRS Headquarters in Abuja.

The FIRS chief executive who emphasized that peace remains essential for prosperity applauded the military’s efforts in sustaining peace, which aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to welfare and security sector support.

In a statement on the FIRS official Facebook page, Dr. Adedeji said “Peace is the bedrock of prosperity, with the Armed Forces playing a pivotal role in safeguarding it.”

He pointed to the recent attainment of the nation’s oil and gas revenue target, made possible by stability in key production areas, and reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to military welfare, highlighted by the recent approval for 1,550 housing units for personnel.

The FIRS Chairman assured the Armed Forces of the Service’s unwavering support in ensuring a successful African CDS Conference.

The Chief of Defence Staff General Musa had earlier informed the FIRS Chairman of the upcoming inaugural African Chiefs of Defence Staff Conference scheduled to be held in Abuja from 25–27 August 2025.

He described the forthcoming conference as a landmark gathering aimed at showcasing Africa’s capacity to shape its defence agenda without external influence.

General Musa emphasized the vital connection between sustainable funding and national security, commending FIRS for consistently enabling the Armed Forces to carry out their duties effectively.

He announced that Nigeria will host the inaugural African Chiefs of Defence Staff Conference in Abuja from 25–27 August 2025.
