Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia on Monday met with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa assuring that the ‘Food Basket’ State remains united and ready to mobilize increased support for Tinubu’s bid for re-election in 2027.

Speaking to State House Correspondents after a closed-door meeting, Governor Alia who was joined by former Governor Gabriel Suswam, acknowledged post‑primary restiveness among party members in the State but called the disputes temporary and urged unity.

“There have been some agitations from APC faithful after the primaries, but I believe they will calm down,” he said, adding that President Tinubu, “as a democrat,” understands the dynamics and that the party will remain “one family.”

Governor Alia went further, forecasting that Benue will boost its vote for the President.

“As I won the election the first time, we are going to double the numbers for Mr. President,” he said.

The Governor said he briefed President Tinubu on security gains in the State long plagued by communal violence.

Governor Alia described the situation as “relatively calm” after months of attacks and said the president asked about internally displaced persons, their voluntary returns and measures to protect farming during the planting season.

“This is the farming season, and because Benue is the food basket of the nation, he wanted to know how we are tackling those challenges,” Governor Alia said, noting that he updated the President on efforts to restore stability and enable agricultural activity.

Governor Alia also thanked President Tinubu for attending Benue’s 50th anniversary events, where the President opened a fruit‑concentrate factory.

Two other industrial projects a beer plant and a fruit‑juice processing facility remain pending commissioning, he said.

The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, recently inaugurated 10 urban‑renewal roads completed by the state government.

Governor Alia told reporters he updated the President president on governance and development plans and expressed confidence that Benue State is on a path toward greater stability and economic growth.
