Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, departed on holiday after spending more than a month touring, inspecting and inaugurating infrastructure projects across the nation’s capital, his media aide said Monday.

“Holiday time for Nyerisi,” Lere Olayinka his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communication wrote on Facebook.

He said that Minister Wike was “somewhere in the world, relaxing” after an intensive period of activity.

The post said the Minister had spent “over 30 days” commissioning completed works, flagging off new projects and reviewing ongoing contracts — including schemes targeted for handover in December and January.

The break follows a concentrated drive by the FCT Administration to accelerate delivery of roads, transport links and other public works in Abuja.

Photographs shared by Mr. Olayinka accompanied the announcement and depicted the pace of the Minister’s recent schedule.

Minister Wike, who took office in August 2023, has repeatedly made completion of stalled projects a central plank of his tenure, pressing contractors and officials to meet timelines ahead of next year’s planned inaugurations.

NewsQuest reports that work continues across multiple sites in the FCG, with several projects at varying stages of execution.
