President Bola Tinubu on Saturday praised David Umahi as “one of my outstanding, hardworking ministers” as the Minister of Works marked his 63rd birthday.

Born July 25, 1963, Umahi drew public commendation from President Tinubu in a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy.

President Tinubu lauded the former Ebonyi Governor’s “passion, dedication to duty, and deep sense of patriotism,” and said Umahi is committed to delivering “durable roads and bridges that will last for about a century.”

The President urged accelerated work on road construction and rehabilitation to advance the administration’s stated goals of improving citizens’ living standards and stimulating economic activity.

“As a Minister, he does not just sit in his office or rely on reports from subordinates; he is constantly on the road, personally monitoring construction work nationwide to ensure compliance with specifications and approvals,” the statement said.

President Tinubu also extended birthday wishes to Umahi and his family, wishing him good health and renewed strength “as he continues to serve the nation.”

Before his ministerial appointment, Umahi served as a Senator for Ebonyi South and was elected Governor of Ebonyi State for two terms from 2015 to 2023.
