President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday ordered security and intelligence agencies to launch a coordinated rescue operation in response to a mass abduction and related killings in Niger State.
A statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy Bayo Onanuga said President Tinubu directed the Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services and “all relevant security and intelligence agencies” to act immediately to recover the over 100 victims.
“Those who carried out this cowardly attack on defenceless Nigerians are enemies of peace and enemies of humanity, who will not go scot‑free,” Tinubu said in the statement.
President Tinubu expressed outrage over the attack and the loss of life and extended condolences to the families of the deceased and said the nation shared their anguish.
“You are not alone. The entire nation shares your anguish. We will not rest until your sons, daughters, mothers and fathers are brought back safely to you,” President said.
He also directed service chiefs to provide regular briefings on the rescue effort “until all those abducted are accounted for.”
The President pledged federal support for recovery, relief and security reinforcement in Niger State and added.
“Terror will not cow Nigeria. We will defend our people, protect our communities, and uphold the sanctity of human life.”
