First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has urged women in the South-East to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, saying the administration remains committed to empowering women and ensuring inclusive development across the region.
She made the appeal Saturday at the South-East zonal All Progressives Congress (APC) women’s presidential rally in Enugu, declaring that the country is beginning to see the benefits of the administration’s economic reforms.
She said Nigerians had endured the difficult phase of the reforms and should now expect improved living conditions.
“As the president said, it is time for prosperity,” she told the gathering.
“You know, when the pain of labor to birth a child is over, it is time for joy and prosperity”, she added.
The First Lady described the current period as a transition from the hardship associated with economic restructuring to the prospect of broader prosperity.
She urged women in the region to back the president’s second-term ambition.
She also said President Tinubu would remain committed to transforming the country and described the APC as a party that fulfills its promises.
She highlighted her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), which provides financial support, skills training, equipment, and other tools to women, young people, and vulnerable Nigerians.
During the event, the First Lady launched the distribution of empowerment items to 5,000 women in Enugu State.
The event drew Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, and other APC leaders and candidates from the Southeast.
Also in attendance were the wives of the Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives, the deputy speaker of the House, as well as the APC National women Leader and the Minister of Women Affairs.
The rally served as a platform for APC women in the region to mobilize grassroots support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.
