The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Olatunji Disu, has redeployed commissioners across the country in a move the force said is intended to sharpen operations and drive through institutional reforms.
The Police Service Commission approved Disu’s recommendations for new commissioners in eight state commands and a series of strategic postings at headquarters and specialist formations, the force said in a statement by its spokesman Chief Superintendent Ani Iniedu.
“The deployments are aimed at strengthening operational effectiveness and advancing ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force,” Iniedu said.
He added that the appointments were designed to “enhance leadership across state commands and specialised police formations while consolidating efforts to reposition the Force.”
The new state commissioners are Afolabi Olutokunbo (Abia), Ayodeji Faniyan (Plateau), Saka Ajao (Bayelsa), Ajo Ordue (Cross River), Nanna Ama (Anambra), Patrick Daaor (Edo), Tani Murtala (Jigawa) and Samuel Erale (Delta).
Iniedu said the changes also include redeployments to key operational and administrative units at Force Headquarters, the Force Criminal Investigation Department, the Force Intelligence Department, the Police Academy and the Police Staff College.
Among the postings, Commissioner Yemi Oyeniyi was assigned to the Intelligence and Training Department of the FID in Abuja and Commissioner Charles Dike was named to head Interpol matters at the FCID.
Other moves affect units charged with counterterrorism, anti‑human trafficking, anti‑fraud, general investigation, finance and administration, inspectorate, welfare, and training and development.
IGP Disu urged the officers to draw on their experience to strengthen intelligence‑led policing, improve operational efficiency, promote professionalism and deepen community engagement, the statement said.
He reiterated the Force’s commitment to protecting lives and property while maintaining discipline, accountability and service delivery.
