A senior presidential aide on Tuesday urged travelers in the North Central region to avoid night travel and exercise “heightened caution” on major highways after a series of security incidents raised concerns about passenger safety.

In a public advisory, Dr. Abiodun Essiet who is the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (North Central), said long‑distance travelers should schedule trips during daylight hours and remain vigilant while on the road.

Dr. Essiet, also called on transport operators to consider temporarily suspending night services until conditions improve.

“The safety and well‑being of citizens remain paramount,” the notice said, asking the public to cooperate with security agencies, report suspicious activity, and strictly follow safety directives.

NewsQuest reports that the advisory however did not stops detail specific attacks or name routes, but its release follows several recent reports of kidnappings, armed robberies and other security breaches affecting motorists and commercial transport in parts of the North Central region, which includes States such as Benue, Kogi, Plateau and Nasarawa.

Our correspondent gathered that these incidents have heightened worries among commuters and operators that rely on intercity travel for commerce and supply chains.

Dr. Essiet’s appended the hashtag “#CommunitySafetyFirst” to the advisory, signaling an emphasis on grassroots vigilance alongside formal security measures.
