President Bola Tinubu departed Jeddah for Abuja on Wednesday after completing Umrah in Makkah, where he offered special prayers for Nigeria’s peace, security, unity and prosperity.
He is expected to resume official duties on arrival, with security and the economy topping his agenda.
The President’s aircraft took off from the Royal Terminal of King Abdulaziz International Airport at 5:13 p.m Saudi time.
He was seen off by senior Saudi officials and members of Nigeria’s diplomatic mission, led by the country’s ambassador to Riyadh.
Tinubu traveled to Saudi Arabia on October 29 and performed Umrah, the lesser Islamic pilgrimage, at the Grand Mosque in Makkah.
During the visit, he offered prayers for Nigeria’s peace, security, unity and prosperity.
King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman granted the President and members of his delegation rare access to the interior of the Holy Kaaba, Islam’s most sacred site.
The President described the access as a rare privilege and thanked the Saudi leadership for its hospitality.
He said his prayers focused on Nigeria’s peace, unity, security and economic recovery, as well as guidance for his administration.
Tinubu is expected to land at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja and resume official duties, including briefings on the government’s economic-reform program and security strategy.
The trip mixed personal devotion with diplomacy: the presidential delegation included governors, senior ministers and prominent Nigerian business leaders, underscoring the longstanding political and commercial ties between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia.
