The newly sworn-in Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Nyesome Wike on Monday vowed to step on toes, while delivering on massive infrastructure development to return Abuja to its lost glory.
Wike said his decisions in administering the city will be based on justice and what is right irrespective of the status of those affected.
The minister who took the oath of office along side 44 other cabinet members at the Presidential Villa, said himself and the Minister of State for the FCTA have a clear mandate from President Bola Tinubu to restore the city’s original master plan.
“You don’t like those who step on toes, I will step on toes. The big and the mighty, if you are doing things wrong, I will do what I am supposed to do,” the new FCTA minister told reporters at a press conference.
The FCTA minister explained that he would embark on a huge revenue drive, including the prompt payment of tenement rate on properties to fund the needed infrastructure in Abuja.
“We have the mandate from Mr. President and Vice President. He has given us a matching order. We must bring the FCT back to what is supposed to be,” he stressed.
Wike who is the immediate past governor of Rivers State also announced that hard times await violators of the Abuja master plan such as those who built on sewage lines, flood plains, under high tension electric poles, and water ways in the city.
